Since this entire week has been cold and rainy, it seems like the perfect time to tell you that Brian installed a hammock last weekend! And then I took a two hour nap in it (back when it was still 90 degrees).
Two years ago, my brother gave me a hammock for my birthday. Awesome gift, right? Absolutely! Except that my birthday is in a cold weather month. By the time warm weather rolled around the following April, we had broken ground on the addition and my hammock was one of many boxes in the basement. The construction was complete in September, but it took another month for us to dig out of those boxes. And then it was cold again. A few weeks ago, I discovered the hammock in the basement. It was like finding an early birthday present! Yay!
Last weekend, Brian and I trekked to Home Depot and bought: two hooks, two caribiners, and two pieces of chain. Our conversation about what length of chain to buy lasted longer than the actual hammock installation. Somehow, we hadn’t remembered to measure the distance between the two trees or the length of the hammock. Whoops.
Brian predrilled holes in the trees. Then screwed in the hooks. Then looped the chain through the hook and the hammock and secured it with a caribiner. All of the equipment we purchased is galvanized stainless steel so it shouldn’t rust on us. It supports a weight of about 800 pounds and is the perfect place for an afternoon nap.
